This island is 12 hectares and is jungle-covered and was formed by living corals growing on top of an extinct undersea volcano. With its surrounding coral reef the island rises in form of a slim rocky needle 600m from the seabed. The island has spectacular amazing beaches that tourist and visitors should not miss out.
During low tide you can easily walk around the island for half an hour and only part of the beach near the Pulau Sipadan Resort is suitable for snorkeling, diving and swimming and you can only see the the corals of the atoll. During high tide the whole atoll offers excellent snorkeling and swimming opportunities.

When diving in the Island of Sipadan, you will see sea turtles everywhere, munching on the sponges and algae, or lazing on the wall ledges. You will see see that the walls are very rich of macro life and fish species. You will encounter large fish such as Barracuda, Jacks and Hammerhead sharks. But the resorts in this tiny island of Sipadan is closed because of environmental reasons. The best way to dive here us by staying in on one of the resorts on the nearby islands of Mabul or Kapalai. Whats is the Diving Season in Sipadan Island?
Divers and underwater sea adventurers can dive here in Sipadan Island all year round. But the very best condition to dive is from April to December. Weathe is unstable in Sipadan Island from January to March and there will be a decreased visibility when diving.

How to get there:
First fly with Malaysia Airlines to Kuala Lumpur, then go on to Kota Kinabalu. From here take an internal flight to Tawau, and a bus transfer from Tawau airport to Semporna. You can stay in the floating Dragon Inn overnight, before taking a boat transfer to Sipadan Island.
