Mosque City of Bagerhat in Bangladesh

The Mosque City of Bagerhat is one of the three World Heritage Sites in Bangladesh. The historic city is located within Bagerhat District in south-west Bangladesh. It was founded by Turkish general Ulugh Khan Jahan in the early 15th century. Originally this ancient city was known as Khalifatabad. The city is renowned for its large concentration of mosques and Islamic monuments. There are more than fifty monuments that are catalogued as part of the citation by the UNESCO World Heritage List. Some of those included are the Shatgombuj Mosque, mausoleum of Khan Jahan, the mosques of Singar, Bibi Begni, Reza Khoda and Zindavir.

Manas Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam, India

Manas Wildlife Sanctuary is a National Park, a Project Tiger Reserve, an Elephant Reserve and a Biosphere Reserve. The park is well known for its  rare endemic and endangered wildlife like the Assam Roofed Turtle, Hispid Hare, Golden Langur and Pygmy Hog.

Indonesia: Komodo National Park in East Nusa Tenggara Province

Located in the center of Indonesia, the Komodo National Park’ main purpose was to conserve the unique Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) and its habitat. Established in 1980 and over the years, the goals of the park have expanded to protecting its entire biodiversity, both terrestrial and marine. The park was declared in 1986 a World Heritage Site as well as a Man and Biosphere Reserve.

Mogao Caves or Grottoes in Gansu Province, China

The Mogao Caves or Mogao Grottoes is also known as the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas and Dunhuang Caves form a system of 492 temples. It is an oasis that is strategically located at a religious and cultural crossroads. The caves contain some of the finest examples of Buddhist art which spans a period of 1,000 years.  The cave shrines were constructed in 366 CE as places to store scriptures and art. The Mogao Caves are the best known of the Chinese Buddhist grottoes and, along with Longmen Grottoes and Yungang Grottoes, are one of the three famous ancient sculptural sites of China. The Mogao Caves or Mogao Grottoes is located in Dunhuang County, Gansu Province, China.
